Dear Bayard Taylor students and families.

As we get ready to start the 2020-21 school year, I hope this message finds you and all members of the Taylor community in good health and making the best of things during these challenging times. While the entire Taylor staff wishes we would be welcoming students into the building this week, we are determined to create the best virtual learning environment for them as possible.

While we know that students, parents and guardians may be feeling anxious and uncertain about the school year ahead, please know that the school staff feel the same. However, given that we have such a talented and dedicated group of educators working at Taylor, I am confident that we will be successful in ensuring that students continue learning and growing to the best of their abilities. To that end, it is now more important than ever for teachers and families to be working together. Please consider your child’s teachers your partners in this endeavor and know that they will be there for you and your children.

As we prepare to start school on Wednesday, September 2nd, please be aware of the following:

School will start each day at 8:40 with school wide announcements and conclude at 3:00. The whole school will break for lunch from 12:15-1:00. While we know this will be a long day for students and staff alike, teachers will be sure to schedule numerous breaks and fun activities throughout the day to keep the students active and engaged.
Meal Distribution- Each Thursday from 9:00-11:00, students can come to school to pick up meals for the week. These to go packages will include 5 breakfast and 5 lunches. School staff will also be on site on Thursday morning to provide any needed support to students and families, including distributing school supplies, assisting with computers, or other needs students may have.
Our Virtual Back to School Night will take place on Thursday, September 10th at 6:00. More information will be sent home soon.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Charles or myself if you have any questions or concerns.

We wish all of you a great start to the school year and a healthy and happy Fall season.

Sincerely,

David Laver                       Claire Charles
